“Cooper Spring Nature Park:  A Lampasas Treasure”

San Saba Bird and Nature Club welcomes Harrell Clary to the San Saba Civic Center, 1190 S. Thomas Stewart Drive, November 19, 2pm.  Harrell Clary was raised with a fishing pole in his hand just a short drive down the road from San Saba.  The family stock farm was on Sulphur Creek and teemed with wildlife and diverse plant life.  Harrell’s appreciation for critters and plants has only grown over time.

Harrell Clary is a graduate of Texas A&M with a degree in agricultural engineering.  He has been an engineer with a power company, a retail business owner and a real estate broker in farm and ranch sales.  In more recent times he has worked to enhance wildlife habitat with dozer brush clearing and grass plantings.  He has a company that installs and services gate openers.

Harrell Clary helped train 4-H Club members for plant identification contests and range judging contests for over 25 years.  His current community project is helping develop Cooper Spring Nature Park in downtown Lampasas, a city and private foundation project which was begun in 2008.  The 26-acre park is being developed with an emphasis on birds, butterflies and water quality.  Bird lovers will appreciate the fact that over 130 bird species have been spotted in or above the park.

You are invited to hear Harrell give a brief history of the park’s development to this point and future plans for the park in a program, “Cooper Spring Nature Park: A Lampasas Treasure”.  All those with an interest are welcome to attend. You need not be a member, but are invited to join SSBNC. You can find us at sansababirdandnatureclub.org and on Facebook. If you have questions, please call 325-372-7615.
