San Saba Bird and Nature Club welcomes Norman Horner, PhD, Tuesday, November 21, 2017. Dr. Horner will tell about spiders and their importance in nature. Join us at the San Saba Civic Center, 1190 S. Thomas Drive, at 2 PM. Come early and visit. Everyone with an interest is welcome to attend.

Born in Brownwood, TX, Dr. Horner is a renowned entomologist specializing in arachnids. He holds multiple advanced degrees in liberal arts, education, and biology and a doctorate in entomology. From 1967 until his retirement in 2006, he taught General Zoology, Microbiology, Bacteriology, Animal Parasitology, Entomology, Araneology, and Tropical Rainforest Ecology at Midwestern State University (MSU) in Wichita Falls, TX. While there, Dr. Horner was named Hardin Professor, an annual award given to an MSU faculty member for excellence in teaching and research. In 1993 he was named Mortar Board Professor of the Year.

Dr. Norman Horner, emeritus biology professor and spider expert, now makes his home in Hamilton, Texas with his wife Jane. We are fortunate to have him come to San Saba to share with us his knowledge about spiders!
